2010 will be a special year for the science astronomy, as we celebrate the 400 year anniversary of Galileo first looking through a telescope to pear at the sky and document details of the planets and universe. Many came before him, documenting and naming what was in the sky. The telescope was even developed years before, but it was Galileo who challenged the days beliefs and created turmoil in the intellectual community. For what he challenged, Galileo was chastized by his collegues and even the Church leaders. But int he end his discoveries became accepted.

To celebrate this special time in our history a special website has been created, promoting this special time with special media, and the offering a challenge to put as many telescopes in the hands of the general public as possible. The goal, to have as many people as possible witness to what Galileo saw thru a replica of the telescope he used and learn more of the world we live in.
